Harsh Hingu
Painter · Bournemouth, UK
Harsh Hingu (b. 1997, Ahmedabad) lives and works in Bournemouth, England. His work is rooted in being present — he paints from what he is experiencing around him, letting surroundings, emotions, people, animals, places and moments enter the work as they come, breaking those experiences down through a cubist way of seeing rather than laying a style over them. Layers of acrylic, charcoal, graphite, oil sticks, soft pastels and spray paint are built up, removed and rediscovered through an open process of experimentation; brush marks and uneven lines are left in deliberately, so the work reads as made rather than manufactured. His connection to Indian spirituality, mythology and culture — the seven horses of Surya's chariot, the churning of the ocean, the street dogs he cared for before he left — arrives through his own experience rather than illustration. He studied Fine Art at Arts University Bournemouth, graduating in 2025, has shown in Opulence: Class in the Shadows (Los Angeles, 2026) and Samudra Manthan (Arts University Bournemouth, 2025), and works as a freelance assistant artist to the British artist Stuart Semple.
